what we believe

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God.
 
We believe God inspired the very words of the Bible writers.  Therefore, the Bible forms our character and informs our experience with God.  It is useful for teaching, correcting and training in righteousness.

We believe in a Great Big Good GOD.
 
The Bible declares God's greatness in many passages.  One such passage states, "The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1).  As we look out at the sky, at the universe, we begin to grasp how big God is.  He created this universe: the earth, the sun, and all the stars; and these things are under His control.
 
As big and awesome as God is, He is also full of love, goodness and mercy.  The Bible says, "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever, his faithfulness continues through all generations" (Psalm 100:5).  He even invites us to come and experience Him and His goodness, "Taste and see that the Lord is good" (Psalm 34:8).
 
 
We believe God came in the the world so that we can know Him.
 
We are separated from God because of our sin.
Romans 3:23, 6:23
 
But God sent Jesus into the world.  The Bible records that when Jesus came into the world, people would call him "Immanuel," which means, "God with us."  Indeed, Jesus, who is the Son of God, came into the world as a human.  He literally was and is God with us.

Because of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection we now can know and experience the living God.  Jesus took our punishment of sin when He died on the cross, and He conquered sin and death when He rose from the dead.  Now, our sins are not counted against us, and we can have a relationship with the living God.

We believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to know God, and by faith in Jesus we can have New Life in the Living God.
 
Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).  Jesus is the only way to come to know God, and through Him we can have life.  All that is required is that we believe in Him and call on His name.  The Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9-10).
 
 
We believe in a God who acts in the now.
 
God continues to work today just as He did during biblical times.
 
We believe God heals today.
When Jesus died on the cross, he bore all sickness and disease.

Therefore, we are a church who prays for the sick when we gather, and we expect them to receive healing.
 
We believe in the infilling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

We believe the gift of tongues is for the edification of the believer and for the body of Christ when it is given with interpretation.

The Bible affirms that Jesus is coming soon.  With His second return He will bring reward and judgment to everyone for what they have done.
